Catholic League president Bill Donohue speaks to the Omnibus Spending Bill just passed by the Senate:
The Congress is now officially on record approving a bill that tells mothers in Washington, D.C. that if they decide to take their baby to term, and elect to send their child to a private school—just like the one that President Obama and his wife have chosen for their own children—they can do it on their own dime: the successful voucher scholarship program that 1,700 poor kids were enrolled in is now dead. But if these same mothers decide to abort their babies, the same government will rush to pay their bills.
Most of those affected are black. The bill will soon be signed into law by America’s first black president. Is there anyone so stupid not to understand what is going on?

Obamas UnAmerican - Again!
Duly elected by the lunatic fringe left, declared friend to Islamic nations, proclaimer that America is no longer a Christian nation -in his opinion, President B. Hussein Obama has once again stepped forward to deny the traditions that define America. In his march to change America from the greatest nation on Earth, Hussein is now messing with America's favorite holiday. From the Catholic League, comes the announcement that:

In it, reporter Sheryl Gay Stolberg wrote: “When former social secretaries gave a luncheon to welcome Ms. Rogers earlier this year, one participant said, she surprised them by suggesting the Obamas were planning a ‘non-religious Christmas….’”
This same participant said that “the Obamas did not intend to put the manger scene on display” (this was confirmed by the White House). Indeed, as Stolberg wrote, “there had been internal discussions about making Christmas more inclusive and whether to display the crèche.”

Unlike almost all Americans—including atheists—the Obamas do not give their children Christmas gifts. We know this because Barack bragged about this last year to People magazine. So it should come as no big surprise that he and his wife would like to neuter Christmas in the White House. That’s their natural step—to ban the public display of Christian symbols. Have any doubts? Last April, Georgetown University was ordered to put a drape over the name of Jesus as a condition of the president speaking there.
If the Obamas want to deprive their children of celebrating Christmas, that is their business. It is the business of the public to hold them accountable for the way they celebrate Christmas in the White House. We know one thing for sure: no other administration ever entertained internal discussions on whether to display a nativity scene in the White House.

What About CHRISTmas???
As soon as it starts turning cooler weather, some people start trying to take over Christmas, saying that we need to change it and change the words used to describe it and change the symbols and traditions of it, just so it will fit their ideas and opinions. Some want Christmas to reflect a modern American frame of mind. Like Americans own Christmas!
Christmas, as a spiritual holiday (that's short for Holy Day, BTW), has been celebrated to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ since the 1200s throughout Europe, the Middle East, and northern Africa (Murray, Alexander, "Medieval Christmas", History Today, December 1986). It is celebrated today in almost every culture in the world, and in those who don't celebrate it, it is acknowledged as a Christian Holy Day.
The only official connection America has to the Christmas Holy Day is through governmental establishment for a federal holiday. Most other connections are through religious organizations. This isn't the only time in history there have been conflicts over the celebration of Christmas. The butcher and murder, Oliver Cromwell, was instrumental in getting Christmas celebrations banned in England. And even more recently in America opposing sides have favored or eschewed the holiday, calling it both a tribute to Christ's birth and an insult to a sacred event which had become an excuse for debauchery and rioting. This was during the earliest days of Pilgrim-led America.
Then there was Christmas's contribution to the Civil War.
Let the heathens throw their holiday parties and fight over the last of the latest fad gift. Let's, as Christians who are supposed to be celebrating the birth of our Lord of Peace, refocus on praising God for His blessings as we enter a season of cold and bleakness. Let's demonstrate to the world what Christmas should look like.

Perhaps we should step back to the original intent of the founders of America and our earliest Founding Fathers who preferred a quiet, family oriented time of peaceful reflection and prayer.

Thanksgiving Day Proclamation
This proclamation was made by our first president. Wonder if our latest president would be willing to make the same appeal to God for His blessing.
This is the text of George Washington's October 3, 1789 national Thanksgiving Proclamation; as printed in The Providence Gazette and Country Journal, on October 17, 1789.

A Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness."

It's hard for me to imagine Barack Hussein Obama making a public proposal such as this. He has already declared that our nation, in his opinion, is not a Christian nation.
Of course, the vast majority of this country believes otherwise, that we were ordained into existence by a benevolent Jewish-Christian God, Jehovah, and that the men and women who were instrumental in forming this union were God-fearing, honorable, noble people who were intent on creating a safe haven for good people who wanted to flee oppression and find freedom from more of what they had rejected.
May God bless America and may He keep us within His will, following the precepts and hopes of the founders.

President Obama's "Controversial" Bow To Japan's Emperor
This is another sign of an inexperienced, culturally ignorant (of American culture, that is), person who should not be representing America! Where ever you might believe this guy was born, you've still gotta admit he does not act like an American, much less an American President. He bows to Arabians and former war enemies, but snubs the Queen of England. He' has his own values and agenda, and they are not the same as America's!

Why are Politicians So Thick-Headed?

Thank you for contacting me regarding health care reform. I appreciate hearing from you.Obviously, he's thinking far too much and representing my preferences far too little. This guy has never had anything to do with following orders, in the military, a corporation, or in a marriage!
There are two committees in the United States Senate that have jurisdiction over health care reform. The first committee of jurisdiction is the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP). On July 15, 2009, the Senate HELP Committee completed work on S. 1679, the Affordable Health Choices Act. The second committee of jurisdiction is the Senate Committee on Finance. On October 13, 2009, the Finance Committee completed work on their version of a health care reform bill called the America's Healthy Future Act. At this time, I am reviewing both proposals and listening carefully to the concerns of constituents.
I am committed to working in the Senate to address the rising cost of health care, and it is critical that Congress work to get health care spending under control. As you know, there are many proposals which are intended to make healthcare coverage more affordable for all Americans. Many of these proposals use different approaches to expand coverage and hold down costs. Some plans involve the use of tax incentives for small businesses and individual Americans. Proposals to hold down costs include switching from paper to electronic medical records to streamline the administrative process, banning health care coverage discrimination, chronic disease management, negotiating prescription drug costs and increasing access to generic prescription drugs.
Perhaps the biggest driver of increasing health care costs is having 46 million Americans who don't have health coverage. Too often these individuals go without important preventative care, and when the health problems of these uninsured get bad enough, they seek care in the most expensive place to get it and the only place it is available to them - in an emergency room. Everyone who has health insurance or pays the hospital for treatment helps pay for the hospital's burden of providing uncompensated care to the uninsured. At the same time, many individuals and employers struggle to pay the rapidly rising premiums charged for health coverage.
I supported the expansion of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in Congress because I believe that providing health care coverage for low-income children and children of working families is a step in the right direction to combating the health care crisis. After securing health insurance coverage for these children, I hope that Congress can work to solve the problems facing health insurance coverage affordability for employees of small businesses and for all Americans that do not have affordable access to health care.

WAR ON CHRISTMAS COMMENCES
Catholic League president Bill Donohue notes that the 2009 war on Christmas has begun:
For almost three decades, there has been a Christmas parade in Amelia, Ohio, a village outside Cincinnati. But this year there will be none. That's because one person complained, village solicitor Laura Abrams. Her complaint: the word "Christmas."
In response, the village changed the name to the "Holiday Parade," though it did not say what holiday was being celebrated. Understandably, this dishonest scheme created a furor, the result being—just to play it safe—there will be no parade.
There will be no Christmas tree this year on the Capitol lawn in Frankfort, Kentucky. The word "Christmas" was deemed offensive. Instead, there will be a "Holiday Tree." The official line is that the "Holiday Tree" is inclusive of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's, though no one has ever heard of a "Thanksgiving Tree," "Hanukkah Tree" or "New Year's Tree."
When World War II ended, a local resident from Warren, Michigan decided to erect a nativity scene on a public median; the same family has privately maintained this tradition ever since. But there won't be one this year because a lawsuit argues it is discriminatory.
In Olympia, Washington, religious displays have been banned inside municipal buildings. But outside the buildings, it is okay. Well, not really—atheists are already protesting that decision.
Arizona is supplying this year's Christmas Tree in the nation's Capitol. Attempts to bar students from making religious ornaments were defeated, but only because of a threatened lawsuit.
Make no mistake about it: The declared enemy of these cultural fascists is religious speech, and they will stop at nothing to censor it.

Scary Horror Story in Congress!

This is very interesting! I never thought about it this way.
The Democratic Party has become the Lawyers’ Party.
The Democrat Party is made up of lawyers.
Democrats mock and scorn men who create wealth, like Bush and Cheney, or those who heal the sick, like Frist, or who immerse themselves in history, like Gingrich.
The Lawyers’ Party sees these sorts of people, who provide goods and services that people want, as the enemies of America. And, so we have seen the procession of official enemies, in the eyes of the Lawyers’ Party, grow.
Against whom do Hillary and Obama rail? Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, hospitals, manufacturers, fast food restaurant chains, large retail businesses, bankers, and anyone producing anything of value in our nation.
This is the natural consequence of viewing everything through the eyes of lawyers.
Lawyers solve problems by successfully representing their clients, in this case the American people.
Lawyers seek to have new laws passed, they seek to win lawsuits, they press appellate courts to overturn precedent, and lawyers always parse language to favor their side.
Confined to the narrow practice of law, that is fine. But it is an awful way to govern a great nation.
When politicians as lawyers begin to view some Americans as clients and other Americans as opposing parties, then the role of the legal system in our life becomes all-consuming.
Some Americans become “adverse parties” of our very government.
We are not all litigants in some vast social class-action suit.
We are citizens of a republic that promises us a great deal of freedom from laws, from courts, and from lawyers.
Today, we are drowning in laws; we are contorted by judicial decisions; we are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once private lives.
America has a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is modest and reasonable, not vast and unchecked.
When the most important decision for our next president is whom he will appoint to the Supreme Court, the role of lawyers and the law in America is too big.
When lawyers use criminal prosecution as a continuation of politics by other means, as happened in the lynching of Scooter Libby and Tom Delay, then the power of lawyers in America is too great.
When House Democrats sue America in order to hamstring our efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to do to us, then the role of litigation in America has become crushing.
We cannot expect the Lawyers’ Party to provide real change or real hope in America
Most Americans know that a republic in which every major government action must be blessed by nine unelected judges is not what Washington intended in 1789.
Most Americans grasp that we cannot fight a war when ACLU lawsuits snap at the heels of our defenders.
Most Americans intuit that more lawyers and judges will not restore declining moral values or spark the spirit of enterprise in our economy.
Perhaps Americans will understand that change cannot be brought to our nation by those lawyers who already largely dictate American society and business.
Perhaps Americans will see that hope does not come from the mouths of lawyers but from personal dreams nourished by hard work.
Perhaps Americans will embrace the truth that more lawyers with more power will only make our problems worse.
The United States has 5% of the world’s population and 66% of the world’s lawyers!
Tort (Legal) reform legislation has been introduced in congress several times in the last several years to limit punitive damages in ridiculous lawsuits such as “spilling hot coffee on yourself and suing the establishment that sold it to you” and also to limit punitive damages in huge medical malpractice lawsuits.
This legislation has continually been blocked from even being voted on by the Democrat (Lawyers) Party.
When you see that 97% of the political contributions from the American Trial Lawyers Association goes to the Democrat (Lawyers) Party, then you realize who is responsible for our medical and product costs being so high!
What would a lawyers’s legislation look like? Maybe like this ...
The House health care bill unveiled Thursday clocks in at 1,990 pages and about 400,000 words. In contrast, the Jewish Torah has about 80,000 words. With an estimated 10-year Federal cost (which means the money comes out of our pockets in the form of taxes) of $894 billion, that comes out to about $2.24 million per word. Of course we know Congress always estimates things conservatively…cough, cough… so you might want to add a couple of hundred thousand per word just to be safe. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the actual adjusted cost at closer to $1.055 Trillion dollars (that’s $1,055,000,000,000.00), though everyone knows they’re just a bunch of party-poopers.
Here is a brief example of its content:
“(a) Outpatient Hospitals – (1) In General – Section 1833(t)(3)(C)(iv) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395(t)(3)(C)(iv)) is amended – (A) in the first sentence – (i) by inserting “(which is subject to the productivity adjustment described in subclause (II) of such section)” after “1886(b)(3)(B)(iii); and (ii) by inserting “(but not below 0)” after “reduced”; and (B) in the second sentence, by inserting “and which is subject, beginning with 2010 to the productivity adjustment described in section 1886(b)(3)(B)(iii)(II)”.
Translation - The section deals with “incorporating productivity improvements into market basket updates that do not already incorporate such improvements,” if that helps.
If you can understand what any of that means, please call your Senator and Representative and explain it to them; the honest ones admit that they don’t understand much, if any, of most bills coming out of this Congress.
Reality Check! Rep. Joe Barton, a Texan, said “the bill is about four reams of paper that add up to the American public getting reamed.” Not a nice description, but then it's not a very nice bill, either.

The House health care bill unveiled Thursday clocks in at 1,990 pages and about 400,000 words. In contrast, the Jewish Torah has about 80,000 words. With an estimated 10-year Federal cost (which means the money comes out of our pockets in the form of taxes) of $894 billion, that comes out to about $2.24 million per word. Of course we know Congress always estimates things conservatively…cough, cough… so you might want to add a couple of hundred thousand per word just to be safe. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the actual adjusted cost at closer to $1.055 Trillion dollars (that’s $1,055,000,000,000.00), though everyone knows they’re just a bunch of party-poopers.
Here is a brief example of its content:
“(a) Outpatient Hospitals – (1) In General – Section 1833(t)(3)(C)(iv) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395(t)(3)(C)(iv)) is amended – (A) in the first sentence – (i) by inserting “(which is subject to the productivity adjustment described in subclause (II) of such section)” after “1886(b)(3)(B)(iii); and (ii) by inserting “(but not below 0)” after “reduced”; and (B) in the second sentence, by inserting “and which is subject, beginning with 2010 to the productivity adjustment described in section 1886(b)(3)(B)(iii)(II)”.
Translation - The section deals with “incorporating productivity improvements into market basket updates that do not already incorporate such improvements,” if that helps.
If you can understand what any of that means, please call your Senator and Representative and explain it to them; the honest ones admit that they don’t understand much, if any, of most bills coming out of this Congress.
Reality Check! Rep. Joe Barton, a Texan, said “the bill is about four reams of paper that add up to the American public getting reamed.” Not a nice description, but then it's not a very nice bill, either.

Nobel Prize Flop
In an announcement that has stunned everyone, the Norwegian Nobel Prize Committee has named for their 2009 Peace Prize winner President B. Hussein Obama. No one saw that coming - although we should have, based on their earlier selections for the dubious honor.
One commenter to the USA Today story said:
Yet the Nobel Prize folks consider this guy the number one peacemaker of the year. His peacemongering efforts to date appear to be apologizing for America's past work in the world. Granted, the darker side of the world loves him as he pontificates that America is no longer a Christian nation, but rather a Muslim nation, but his own constituents (a foreign word to a foreign-born person with extremely scant political experience) disagree with his opinions loudly and often.
But Look At Their Record
But the Committee's choice doesn't seem too surprising when you look back at their past choices. In 2007 they awarded the Peace Prize to (Democratic presidential nominee) Al Gore for his globull warming alarmist ideas, most of which have been disproven by the legitimate scientific community. The only other American politician given the award was given in 2002 to former President Jimmy Carter ... also a Democrat.
Is there a discernible pattern there?
Clearly the Nobel Prize Committee is trying to make a political statement which has nothing to do with Obama's hypothetical work. Which is really sad when you consider that the program was begun on such ... well noble principles. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd suspect international, perhaps spiritual manipulation at work to place this shady character in an even stronger worldwide position to implement nefarious deeds.
Good thing I'm not paranoid.
I'm just realistic. The Committee messed up - again.

HealthCare = Supreme Invasion
One thing to consider regarding the ObamaCare package once again being re-created behind closed doors: if the government gets control of "health care" for the people, you can bet they will begin to legislate what we eat (for our own good), what we drive (for our own good), how we keep our homes (for our own good), whether we have guns in our homes (for our own good), what kind of "inciting, hate-mongering" material we allow our children to read (for example, the Bible) - all for our own good. The new KGB will have full rights to inspect our homes for all sorts of health violations. (DHS can already do this if they get an "anonymous tip" that children are not being cared for properly in any imaginable way.)
Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams, and my own great-grandpa Patrick Henry would have been appalled by this attempt to return us to a king and peasant system - in fact, they risked all they had and went to war to get us free from this very sort of mess.
We must stop this attempt to strip us and our children and grand-children of our "endowed by our Creator, inalienable rights" of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. No, that's not silly old-fashioned over-dramaticization - it's what this country was founded on.
Have we given up the idea?

CITIZEN ALERT UPDATE: In the first comment below, WestPalm4Hillary noted, “Great, and THIS is the guy the Democrats want with control of ‘the button’.” Which reminded me of something we haven’t written about in a while — one of BO’s many (and they are countless) excuses for the votes he made, didn’t make, maybe made, or Planned Parenthood or the mob Chicago pols forced him to make, or was just “present” to make in the Illinois State Senate. There's a Jimmy Buffett song that often reaches directly into my heart. the name of it is Pacing the Cage. Some of the lyrics are:
Do you ever get the feeling that this whole life is a joke? no matter how hard I try to make a difference and do the right thing and help someone, none of it matters a bit after I'm gone. The guy who sits on his ass all his life and never does a thing will be just as valued six months after he's dead as the guy who worked himself to death trying to get it right. Solomon (supposed to be the wisest man who ever lived) said "everything is vanity" - in other words, nothing matters except to the person doing it, and then only if it makes him feel better, like he accomplished something.
Some days I wish I had the guts, balls, courage, whatever to just get in the car and start driving, and keep going until I hit water, then crawl off under a tree and sit there until ... well, until, I don't know when. I wish I could crawl into a Buffett song and hide from the whole worthless, ungrateful world. Be a rum bum on a beach, scratching my beard and my ass and throwing sticks at the kids who come by to point and laugh at me. Stare at the horizon and the waves coming in. Watch the pelicans living a much more fulfilling life than most humans I've seen. Find the cool beneath the hot sand. Die out of the way.
So, how are you doing?

I’m Moving To Mexico
Dear Mr. President, Senate and House of Representatives:
I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.
We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.
We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.
So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

- I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
- I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico, but, I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.
- In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.
- I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put U S. flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
- I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.
- Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say a critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.

Oops! CNN President "Mispeaks" About Birth Certificate

Jon Klein, the president of CNN has spoken. Your efforts to demand that Barack Hussein Obama actually produce his birth certificate and prove to the American people that he is eligible to sit in the Oval Office... that he is not a fraud and a usurper... are "dead."
According to Klein, "anyone who still is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef."
But Klein simply didn't keep that opinion to himself... as far as Klein is concerned, his opinion is the news.
According to TalkingPointsMemo.com (TPM), Klein had the audacity to send an e-mail to the CNN staff making an outrageous and totally bogus assertion. Essentially Klein claimed that Obama's actual birth certificate does not exist because the State of Hawaii destroyed it back in 2001:
Here's the relevant part of the e-mail:
Claiming that information contained in the email "seems to definitively answer the question," Klein issued the following directive:
"Since the show's mission is for Lou to be the explainer and enlightener, he should be sure to cite this during your segment tonite. (sic)"
And Dobbs, who to his credit has taken Barack Hussein Obama to task for refusing to produce his birth certificate, ceded to his boss' wishes and reported the fabrication on the air that same night:
"The state of Hawaii says it can't release a paper copy of the president's original birth certificate because they say the state government discarded the original document when the health department records went electronic some eight years ago. That explanation, however, has not satisfied some critics."
Of course, Klein's fabrication was so outrageous that even the State of Hawaii could not let it stand and Janice Okubo with the Hawaii Department of Health almost immediately issued a clarification:
But you would be hard-pressed to find any coverage of Okubo's "clarification" anywhere. As far as the media was concerned, it didn't exist.
Unbelievable... but Klein's antics show that he (and other liberals in the media) are willing to go to any length... tell any lie... fabricate any story... to shield Barack Hussein Obama from any criticism.
Well, we have a message for Mr. Klein and the other liberals in the MSM. This story is not "dead" and the American people refuse to be silenced.

Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

.You supply a current Driver's License
.You supply your Social Security #
.You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
.Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25
Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.
There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Guns must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18.
The Government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

Prayer in School Survives
I just received this - you've probably seen it before. I checked it out and it's true. If you want an additional laugh, go to Snopes and read their take on it. See my notes at the bottom.

Snopes (http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/scott.asp) has this to say about Mr. Scott's speech: They grudgingly admit it's true ("mixture of true and false information"), but state, "Moreover, unlike other persons who testified before the Congressional subcommittee that day, Mr. Scott presented no facts or statistics relating to the issues of gun control and gun law enforcement; he merely gave a rambling opinion that gun control laws wouldn't have stopped the Columbine High School shootings and that those shootings were somehow related to a lack of religion in schools." (emphasis mine own)
How is it that a liberal organization like Snopes can publish something like this and just not get it? This is patently NOT about religion in schools. It is about a federal decision to attempt to ban any recognition of God from our public schools. (and, yes, they'd get all confused about that, too .. "B...b...but isnt' talking about God the same thing as religion?") It's almost funny how they can read a clear statement and fail to be able to understand what he's talking about. Talk about being in the dark!

Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado , was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.
They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript:
"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women.. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.
"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.
"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun.. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe
that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent.
I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.
Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!
" Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational
systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.
"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To
those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge..... Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!
My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"
