NOTE: THE OPINIONS STATED BELOW ARE MINE ALONE - which is to say they're not anyone else's, and they're absolutely accurate! I'm a four-way Irish descendant (both of my Dad's and both of my Mom's parents were of Irish descent), so I am passionate about my homeland, despite being born in America - the second best country in the world. Yes, I'm proud to be an American, but I'd rather be living back in my ancestral home. Erin go bragh!

Nobel Prize Flop
One commenter to the USA Today story said:
What A Joke He has not done enough to stand with past winners such as Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr. or groups like Amnesty Int.and that is true enough. In his nine months in office Obama has primarily excelled in division of America's two political parties and greater unrest among the American people (whose servant he is supposed to be). He has also managed to break his primary campaign directive: total transparency. Numerous and repeated requests for several critical pieces of defining information regarding his shady past have been ignored or blatantly refused. Among these items are college transcripts, legislative papers, and - of all things to want to conceal - his birth certificate.
Yet the Nobel Prize folks consider this guy the number one peacemaker of the year. His peacemongering efforts to date appear to be apologizing for America's past work in the world. Granted, the darker side of the world loves him as he pontificates that America is no longer a Christian nation, but rather a Muslim nation, but his own constituents (a foreign word to a foreign-born person with extremely scant political experience) disagree with his opinions loudly and often.
But Look At Their Record
But the Committee's choice doesn't seem too surprising when you look back at their past choices. In 2007 they awarded the Peace Prize to (Democratic presidential nominee) Al Gore for his globull warming alarmist ideas, most of which have been disproven by the legitimate scientific community. The only other American politician given the award was given in 2002 to former President Jimmy Carter ... also a Democrat.
Is there a discernible pattern there?
Clearly the Nobel Prize Committee is trying to make a political statement which has nothing to do with Obama's hypothetical work. Which is really sad when you consider that the program was begun on such ... well noble principles. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd suspect international, perhaps spiritual manipulation at work to place this shady character in an even stronger worldwide position to implement nefarious deeds.
Good thing I'm not paranoid.
I'm just realistic. The Committee messed up - again.

The blog that time forgot…
I found this fascinating quote today:
Britain will get its first chance to see Barack Obama this week when a White House cavalcade - complete with armoured limousines, helicopters, 200 US secret service staff and a six-doctor medical team - sweeps into the UK.
Obama will fly into London for his first visit to the UK as president of the United States on Tuesday to take part in the G20 summit in the capital’s Docklands area. He will not be travelling light.
More than 500 officials and staff will accompany the president on his tour this week - along with a mass of high-tech security equipment, including the $300,000 presidential limousine, known as The Beast. Fitted with night-vision camera, reinforced steel plating, tear- gas cannon and oxygen tanks, the vehicle is the ultimate in heavy armoured transport.
In addition, a team from the White House kitchen will travel with the president to prepare his food. As one official put it: “When the president travels, the White House travels with him, right down to the car he drives, the water he drinks, the gasoline he uses, the food he eats. America is still the sole superpower and the president must have the ability to handle any crisis, anywhere, any time.”
Justgroovy, The blog that time forgot…, Mar 2009You should read the whole article.

I blush to say it, but Bravo Obama ...
This, from The Opinionator blog, actually has me smiling. I had missed the fact that the Obama Administration shunned the brits when Gordon Brown visited, and then pulled out all stops for Irish PM Cowan.
Although I have many, many issues with Obama et al, I salute them for their good taste in this very important issue. Thank you, Mr. President, for giving the brits exactly what they deserve - nothing; and the Irish for what they deserve - our thanks and honor.
See what I mean:
Still, Nile Gardiner of The Telegraph thinks that, all in all, the luck of the Irish held.
The contrast between the White House welcome this month for the Irish and British Prime Ministers could not have been greater. Brian Cowen, the Taoiseach of Ireland, is hardly a world figure, but he received the kind of red carpet treatment in Washington that would normally be reserved for royalty.
The Irish PM has no influence whatsoever over the policies of the United States. Yet he was greeted for a 40-minute meeting in the Oval Office on Tuesday by not only the president but also Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and National Security Adviser Jim Jones. In addition, Obama hosted a lavish dinner party for 400 guests in Cowen’s honour to mark St. Patrick’s Day, where both the U.S. and Irish leaders spoke (teleprompter fiasco aside). At Michelle Obama’s request, the White House fountain was even turned green to mark the event.
When Gordon Brown was received at the White House at the start of March he was denied a press conference as well as an official dinner and was treated in a humiliating, demeaning fashion. Brown may well be a lame duck at home, but he is still the representative of 60 million Britons and a nation that has sacrificed blood and treasure alongside America time after time. The whole affair was hugely insulting to the British people.
To paraphrase Michelle Obama: "For the first time," since this administration took office, "I'm proud of America" for their approach to European diplomacy. For many, the ultimate symbol of the dissing of Gordon Brown involved the ritual exchange of presents: while the Browns came bearing “an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet” as well as books and outfits for the First Children, Sasha and Malia, the Obamas responded with a 25-disc set of classic American moves, which The Daily Mail’s Ian Drury called “as exciting as a pair of socks.”
While, again, this seems minor, insult was added to insult this week when it turned out that the regional-coding system applied to DVD’s rendered the movies unplayable at 10 Downing Street.
Slainté!

OBAMA TO FUND U.N. PRO-ABORTION AGENCY
Bill Donohue explains the Catholic League’s response:
“The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) claims that it is not pro-abortion. It says that it merely supports ‘reproductive rights.’ Not quite. Starting in 1979, in the first five years of China’s draconian one-child policy, UNFPA gave the program $50 million. To accomplish this goal over the years, which is still ongoing, IUDs have been forced into the wombs of hundreds of millions of women against their will. Indeed, no coercive method is considered taboo, including forced abortion. It was for reasons like these that in 2002 the U.S. State Department blasted China for its affront to human rights. Indeed, Secretary Colin Powell backed the Bush administration’s denial of funds to UNFPA.
“The one-child policy has abetted female infanticide, so much so that there has been a massive decrease in the female population—there are now an estimated 350 million girls missing from China. Other non-white areas of the world where UNFPA concentrates its efforts include Vietnam, Nigeria and Peru. But it can be multicultural: When the genocidal maniac from Serbia, Slobodan Milosevic, wanted to tame his people, he invited UNFPA to help reduce the population of Kosovo; he wasn’t unhappy with the results, nor, of course, the means.
“So here we have it. In the name of women’s rights, UNFPA undercuts women. In the name of eradicating poverty, it eradicates the poor. Moreover, it works closely with anti-Catholic groups. And now Obama wants us to bankroll UNFPA. During a recession, no less. To top things off, he is doing all of this in the name of ending the politicization of issues that he says marked previous administrations. The ironies are as endless as they are priceless.”

And so It begins ...
SOURCE
An author and critic of Islam says the recent decision by a Dutch court to prosecute a Dutch lawmaker for comparing the Koran to Hitler's Mein Kampf does not bode well for the future of free speech rights in the United States.
The Islamic world complained, but last year prosecutors decided against launching a case against Wilders, saying his strident anti-Islamic statements were "hurtful to Muslims, but not criminal."
But now the Amsterdam Appeals Court has ruled that prosecutors will launch a hate-speech case against Wilders. Robert Spencer is the director of Jihad Watch, a project of the David Horowitz Freedom Center. He says this case is part of a larger effort to criminalize any discussion of Islam to which jihadists object.
"The Organization of the Islamic Conference, which is 57 Muslim governments around the world, is making a concerted effort at the United Nations to criminalize any discussion of the elements of Islam that jihadists use to make recruits and justify their actions," he contends.
Spencer says the Wilders prosecution shows that Europe is falling in line with the Islamic initiative to prosecute anyone who engages in what the Islamists say is hate speech. He adds that could affect the free speech rights of Americans as well.
"Especially at a time when the Obama administration has announced its intention to bring the United States into line with European sensibilities about this and closer to the U.N.," he points out. "And with both Europe and the U.N giving way on free speech at a rapid clip, that bodes ill for our freedoms in the United States."

Relate fires Christian counselor
In brittain, Gary McFarlane worked for Relate as a counselor, then later as a psychosexual therapist. When the question came up regarding giving sexual therapy advice to homosexual couples, MaFarlane said that he could not do so due to his Christian convictions. Relate fired him. McFarlane filed a grievance for unlawful dismissal and lost (although he sort of won since Relate had not followed proper paperwork procedures.)
Now, the question is, was his firing justified? Let's see:
* McFarlane had faithfully served his employer since 2003;
* he did not refuse to serve his clients, just refused to offer advice to homosexual couples to help them perform sex acts on each other, which is against his personal convictions;
* No cases had been assigned to him, Relate fired him because of what he said he was uncomfortable doing;
* Relate was asking an established employee to act in a manner which would have made him personally uncomfortable and would have resulted in less than exemplairary service to their clients;
* McFarlane did not refuse to see other clients, only those with whom he was uncomfortable.
Since then, bloggists and "journalists" have said:
* "who lost his job with Relate because his homophobia – er, religious convictions – came into conflict with his duties. "
* Christian convictions do not equal homophobia. Christian convictions include trying to follow the precepts of Christianity, which direct followers to not judge or condemn, but to not lead others into what is considered wrong. McFarlane was not attacking homosexuals (as many have attacked him since), he was refusing to go against his convictions by guiding others into what he considered wrong
* "They are seeking to place Christian dogma over the rights of people to fair treatment. They must not succeed."
Why would Relate want to force a counselor to work with clients he could not give his best efforts to? As I understand their program they are not strictly a gay marriage service. Why wouldn't they assign gay couples to a therapist who was most qualified - in skills, experience, and attitude - to serve their needs? Why force a competent therapist to address cases outside his expertise? Just point him to the majority of their clients - straight couples - and let all the other counselors take turns serving the few gay couples.
There was no need to fire a qualified therapist, just use him to his best ability.
Because of my father's destruction by alcoholism, I am not well qualified to serve alcoholics. I don't hate them or wish them ill, I am just not the best counselor for them. When alcoholics ask for my help, I refer them to other counselors who are more able to serve their needs. Period. I hope I will not be fired for refusing to serve someone I could not offer top rate service to.
Convictions are convictions. They alter our ability to deal at peak with some. Just move on.

Ignorant Media Wrong AGAIN!
Reporting in the hostilities between Hamas terrorists in Gaza and the Israeli defense force actions:
CBS Evening news (USA) takes great delight (apparently) in showing a Palestinian father grieving over his wounded little boy, kissing the boy gently on the face, and scenes of frightened citizens running down the streets. A voiced over "Palestinian" news announcer whines that things are getting much more difficult for the families who live in the Gaza Strip since basic services such as electricity and water have been disrupted.
As far as CBS and the rest of the ignorant, mis-informed major media are concerned, the Hamas terrorists are just poor innocent victims of them there mean old Israelis who are trying to make their sweet lives miserable.
Stoopid CBS, you should have looked behind the shooting to see what made the Israelites begin their defensive assault on the terrorists who had been killing Israeli children and innocent citizens over the last three years. (But that would require actual investigation, which is too complicated for journalists, so don't bother your flaccid little minds.)
Oh well, no one believes anything the mainline media stooges say anymore, anyhow.

Euro Recession: TOLD YOU SO!!!!
"Part of the problem is that European monetary policy, which once worked in favor of fast growth in Ireland, is now working against it. ...
Now that Ireland needs aggressively low interest rates to stimulate the ailing economy, it is not getting them. This summer, when the economy here became one of the first in the industrialized world to fall into recession, the European Central Bank actually raised interest rates, worried more about the rise of inflation across the euro zone. ... That strategy, economists say, makes sense for euro zone countries such as France, which is not in recession, but not for Ireland."
Of course! Whatever the Big Three - Germany, France, and Italy - need takes precedence over what once-valued members such as wee Ireland needs to survive.
Listen to me: if you roll around with pigs, you're gonna get filthy! Get out of the European union, Ireland. Europe has never - never - never had any interest in Ireland other than raping and stealing everything they can get from us. Won't surrender your new-found freedom to another, worse master. Britain was horrible enough, the Fourth Reich will kill you!
Look at what they're trying to force on the rest of the world:
"Seeking solutions, European leaders are pushing sweeping reforms of the world financial system. Pressing for such moves as global guidelines on executive pay and universal accounting standards, they are calling on the United States and other major nations to sign on to their plan within 100 days."
Typical of the Oligarchical mindset of the Regal European set, if they screw themselves up, they try to pull the rest of the world into their troubles.
You cannot expect success from a union of such diverse and insular, old monarchies as those of which Europe is composed. Germany CANNOT maintain the best interests of France, who CANNOT focus on the needs of Italy, who CANNOT care intimately about the well being of Spain. There are just too many old grudges and jealousies there.
And Ireland has always been their whipping boy; a ripe garden to pluck and discard.
GET OUT OF THE UNION!

New Referendum Proposed ... Told you so!!!
I agree wholeheartedly with Cardinal Brady's assessment that we don't believe the Euros have any religious convictions to back their rush to power. Of course they don't! What glory could Christ's Church possibly get from the fourth Reich? The power hungry would-be masters on the continent are in it for themselves alone ... as before. Hitler, too, believed he was acting on divine assignment, but who would accept that assertion now, with the perspective of history?
The same will be seen of this power grab in the future. If Ireland falls into goose stepping line with the Euros, we will be blithely handing our leash into the hands of another brit-like master who will strip our goods from us and leave us wallowing in the mud left behind.
Let's look at some of Roach's comments on RTE today:
Roche referred to the influence on the outcome of the referendum by "people outside Europe who wish Europe harm" - By which he means the Irish diaspora who have a clearer perspective of the overall issue. Indeed, in Roach's opinion, what right do Irish descendants have to state their experience and feelings about their - our - homeland?
At one point, Roche actually said; "we've already had a referendum on this matter." yes, we have, and we told our feelings - don't try to shove us around, thank you!
Questioned repeatedly, Roche continually refused to say that other cabinet members agreed to the idea of defying what the Irish people have said. This can offer a modicum of hope that Roach, alone, is defying the people's wishes.
Roche referred several times to "Eukips and ultra extremists" as those who are arguing against a second referendum. We can only assume that these biased terms of endearment mean anyone who disagrees with Roach, who wants to be more Euro than Irish.
Roche also hinted at threats that Ireland will find herself in much more difficult economic straits if we do not submit ourselves to the master race in Europe prime. These sound frighteningly like old, historic sabre-rattlings which Ireland has often had to deal with, don't they?
Just to show his knowledge of what has happened in the last few months, Roche said, "The Irish people have spoken." To which we say, yes, so let us be!
And he fell to the simplistic arguments that opposing sides to Lisbon were liars, that "everybody" on the no side argued that Ireland's place was within Europe - nope, wrong again, Mr. Roach. Many of us argued that Ireland's place was with Ireland. Perhaps with some help from our plantation lands in the USA.
Oh, and by the way, Mr. Roche, twenty-six other European "states" did not agree to the treaty as you assert. Many of those "states", including France, have serious problems with allowing themselves to be blended complacently into a whole which reflects none of their national identity. As I've said before, Greece is not part of Spain; France is still not part of Germany, and Ireland is not part of any of them! We are Ireland! Not "Number Twenty-Seven" among a bunch of nameless, faceless, identical "states."
I understand. I really do. Everyone in Europe is so jealous of America's success they can't wait to be called The United States of Europe. But, as an American for 50 years let me say that the homogeneity here is not what you want. Yes, we have some funny little "Yankee" and "Southerner" variances in our culture, but California is very much like New York is very much like Florida is very much like Chicago. We are all the same.
There is no way that the French people will quietly go into the blender with the Germans, the Italians, the Polish, and the british. The historic characters are too firmly ingrained into the national cultures. And they should be! The world needs a uniquely French, Greek, Polish, and IRISH character to relate to. This rush to a one-world identity is wrong. It is not efficient, it is not sensible, it is wrong.
Ireland, please stand strong against the pressure to melt into a euro-character. The world has one melting pot. It is moderately successful in some areas, but not in all. You don't want to surrender your Celtic character which is only yours. Stand strong.
Ireland is Ireland!

Welcommen to the real EU!
"British families spent thousands of pounds each to book into the family friendly Meltemi Village, an all inclusive resort on the island of Crete. But when they arrived at the so-called family friendly resort they were told that the children's club was out of bounds because it was for German youngsters only," goes the story.
Well, of course, because the Germans are, remember, the master race, so why shouldn't their kindern receive special privileges?
But who is really surprised? This idea to blend such historically divided cultures into one happy family is as goofy as it sounds on the surface. Yes, individuals can get along. Yes, some cultures can even manage to cooperate for a profit. But face it, you can only go so far into making the Irish act like the French, or the brits act like the Czechs, or the Germans act like ... well, like anything but Germans!
The only ones to profit from the solidification of the EU compact will be the highhanded cliques such as the Germans and the French. This attempt to replay WWII again by taking over Europe is a blatant power grab. Have the Irish benefited from the union? A little. But so does the mouse when he accepts the first bite of cheese in the trap. Or the child who receives a free drug from a kindly pusher.
Der Herrenmensch are just part of the problematic mindset of this unnatural union. Our culture developed as a slave race to the brits (who thought themselves the master race), not as a partner of the broader Europe peoples. Yes, our contributions to those folk helped them develop their cultures and civilization, but how much did they help us overall? How much did they contribute to the Irish character (rape aside)? How much did they help us out of our servitude to our tormentors for 700 years? Not at all. They just looked on as we were trampled and misused by a stronger group. And, because that stronger group used our resources to buy the Europeans' loyalty, they refused to even see our slavery as wrong. They were, in fact, partners to our subjugation.
So why should we join them in their mass hysteria? This whole European Union farce is an attempt to build, not only an unnatural, but an unholy alliance. Doesn't this sound a little familiar? Doesn't this ring of a rebuilding of the old Roman Empire, as foretold in the Bible? Ezekiel 38 and 39, as well as references in Daniel and Revelation tell that in the last days the Roman Empire will be rebuilt from a union of her neighbors.
My dear Irish brothers and sisters, do we really want to become part of that? Not if we read the whole story and see where that group proceeds.
For more on the development of the EU into a 2,500 year old prophecy, read Joel Rosenberg's blog at joelrosenberg.blogspot.com.
Don't go blindly into another damaging relationship with the same folk who have scorned us for so long. Their disdain is apparent in their disregard for our recent vote on Lisbon. We have more strength of character than they ever have had. We've earned it in our chains. Push them away.

Letter to US Congressmen
French president Nicolas Sarkozy is visiting Ireland this Monday to attempt to force them to vote again on a measure they have already rejected. His overbearing attitude and this effort to impose his will upon another people (BTW, his own citizens rejected his proposal, too) is tantamount to an autocratic imposition of his agenda.
The Lisbon Treaty, however you may feel about it, introduction of a Fourth Reich or just a market annexation, has been properly proffered and voted upon. It was duly rejected by the free Irish voters.
Now EU Führer and French president Sarkozy is doing just what so many Irish citizens feared - he is attempting to force them to bend to his will against their own.
Please support Irish rights to decide their own government. Encourage Taoiseach Brian Cowen to stand up for his own people's decision and to resist Sarkozy's highhanded powerplay.
The Irish people have let their will be known. Only in a totalitarian state (is this what the EU is aimed toward becoming?) is the will of the people summarily ignored. Sarkozy's refusal to accept the Irish decision is indicative of his end goal and intentions.
The United States needs to stand strong beside the homeland of so many of our ancestors and defend this affront to liberty and free speech.
Sarkozy Stay Home!
But no, he's coming over all pissy and whiny about our vote against his pet take over attempt (who'da thunk it?) just because we didn't welcome the next phase toward dictatorship with open arms.
Just because the dimwitted brits have accepted your take over attempt (anything would be better, they probably think, than what they have now), doesn't mean we're going to change our minds. You didn't read the history books correctly, N.S., we weren't britain's partners or buddies, we were their slaves. And FYI, former slaves don't usually follow their past masters over a cliff. We just stand and watch, and cheer.
But your overbearing attitude of "Ve vill make zose ignorant peasant Irish obey our commands" isn't really surprising. If you'll recall, many of us expected, even predicted this turn of events before the vote you lost. Many pundits said that if we didn't back your horse you'd come back to run over us.
And that prediction, having come true with your eminent visit, will simply be ammunition for us to use, should another vote actually be decreed, to swing more voters against your blitzkrieg. You want to see a real landslide vote, just force us to vote on your proposal again. You'll be lucky to get a dozen drunken sailors to side with you.
C'mon Nikkita! Stay home where you're wanted ... oh, right, even your OWN PEOPLE REJECTED your mess of a proposal toward a fourth Reich! Drop it, already. Nobody wants to play in your gulag, Nikki. Stay home and sulk, or whine, or even criticise us.
Just stay home, OK?
